Websites for
Electricians

Websites and booking systems for electrical contractors. Fast on site, no monthly lock-in, you own the code. Built by someone who has done it for several UK firms.

Sound familiar?

  • You are paying a monthly fee for a site you have to ring someone to change.
  • Enquiries land in an inbox nobody watches, and you find out when a customer rings up annoyed.
  • The site was designed on a desktop monitor and takes six seconds to load on a phone outside a house.
  • You cannot add a new service area or a photo of last week’s job without raising a ticket.

What I do about it

Site rebuild

Six to eight pages, fast on mobile data, editable by you. You own the repository.

Enquiry routing

Form to inbox to phone, with a daily automated test so it cannot fail quietly.

Service area pages

For the areas you actually cover, with real jobs. Not fifty templated town pages.

Email that lands

Proper email hosting so your quotes stop going to spam.

A job I actually did

Anonymised. Sector, size and region only, never a client name. The work and the numbers are real.

Who: A seven-person electrical contractor in the English Midlands. Domestic and light commercial, mostly rewires, consumer unit upgrades and EV charger installs.

Before: Three tools that did not talk to each other: £89 a month for a five-page site they could not edit, £40 a month for a booking tool, £14 for domain and email that flagged as spam roughly one time in five. £1,716 a year.

Built:
  • A static six-page site, generated at build time, no database on the public side.
  • An enquiry form that writes to a database and pushes to two real inboxes plus a phone notification.
  • A page per service area they genuinely cover, written properly rather than templated.
  • Their own photographs, taken on a phone, instead of stock images of models in clean overalls.

After: Running costs went to roughly £7 a month. The homepage went from nearly four megabytes to under 300KB, which on a driveway with two bars is the difference between the page appearing and the customer pressing back.

What went wrong: The form silently failed for nine days because the notification address had a typo in it. Enquiries were saving to the database correctly, so every dashboard said the system was healthy. I only found it by checking the inbox rather than the database. There is now a daily check that sends a real enquiry through the real path and shouts if it does not arrive.

Questions

How much does a website for an electrician cost?

The build is a one-off fee that varies with scope. What matters more is the monthly cost afterwards. The contractor above went from £143 a month to about £7 a month, so the rebuild paid for itself inside a year. If someone quotes you a monthly fee that includes "the website", ask what happens to the site when you stop paying.

Do I own the website?

Yes. The code goes in a repository you control and there is no ongoing fee to me. If you want to take it to another developer, you can, and I will hand it over without an argument.

Do I need a booking system?

Usually not, under about ten people. A form is enough if the enquiry reaches a human within minutes. A booking system that emails an address nobody checks is worse than a form, because it feels handled when it is not.

Will you build me pages for every town nearby?

No. Generating dozens of near-identical town pages is a doorway-page pattern Google explicitly targets, and it does not rank. Fewer pages for areas you really cover, written properly, work better.

I already get all my work by word of mouth. Should I bother?

Probably not, and I would rather say so. If your phone gets answered and the work keeps coming, a new website is not your bottleneck. Sort your Google Business Profile first, it is free.

Tell me what you need

No pitch deck, no discovery call to book another discovery call. Describe the job and I will tell you what it takes, or tell you that you do not need me.
